This page is dedicated to relatively new studios who show a lot of promise and potential for even bigger and better films. These studios have already demonstrated a huge effort in their film-making and have proved to have the determination to go all the way.

===============================================

Lets start off by introducing a film-maker, I hadn't ever heard of until the other week. His name? ... Poppashango and his RogueSphereStudios

I first noticed this film-maker's debut film called 'The Longing' in a thread and I was instantly intruiged by it. He had taken a concept and really taken the story to a whole new narrative level for story telling. From his professionalism in his thread/poster/description to the actual saga that unfolded, I was truly touched by this story.

It is very rare for a subtitle movie to grab me with the effect it did and this was a pleasant suprise. A gentle reminder that amongst all the random movies out there from new studios (which aren't all necessarily bad) there are actually new film-makers dedicated to making a full-length feature film.

I remember finishing watching Part 1 and thinking 'Wow, this guy has got something going on' and I had to check out part two immediately. I cannot wait for the final 3rd and 4th part of this gripping tale and I strongly urge TMO'ers to give this studio a chance.

I am impressed with what I've seen so far and I am certain there are better things to come from him.

I proudly present this brand-new award to Poppashango along with my review which you can read below.

PART 1

Two Hearts...One Struggle....One Love and an Amazing tale!!!

The longing is probably the most impressive narrative subtitled film I have seen on TMO. It is as simple as that. Is it flawless? ...no.. but what movie is? what it is though, is engaging, gripping, natural, heartbreaking and worth every minute of ones time.

I am very impressed with your use of dialogue and narrative subtitles which really grabs the viewer into the time and setting.

Part 1 begins well and sets up the foundations of this tale as we grow to see these characters relationship blossom on screen. At times there were truly powerful moments and dialogue that stuck in my head. Thinking about what things would be like in the old days was truly heartbreaking and I felt for these characters.

Another thing that impressed me was your use of the default movies music. This was used appropriately which fitted in with the mood of the film. Timing was perfect and it went hand in hand with narration change. There were glimpses of some nice use of camera angle pans however I would like to see some more experimentation and perhaps some close shots.

Part One rounded up pretty well with an interesting cliff-hanger!!

This series has a lot of potential and I hope you decide to try using voice acting in the near future which will only enhance your movies further. Spend time on the forums and even try for a casting call one day in the future. For now I will be checking out Part 2, until my review..

Nuke Well in the Longing!!

Part 2 carries on from where the viewer left off and the story deepens as we learn the conclusions of the cliff-hanger. Excellent story development as I found the characters and plot engrossing.

You used the free-cam very well in this getting some good shots mixed with clever editting. A fine example of this was the highly impressive fight sequence. I love the way this story is turning out and once again, for a first time film maker you have your head securely screwed on which I love. I admire all film-makers old and new who clearly put thought and effort behind their work. Once again there was an excellent cliff-hanger that just makes me want to watch more.

Strangely enough although half-way through this saga, I am already dreading the finale as this is the sort of series that can truly carry on for many episodes. This is kind of reminiscant of the Roots series all those years ago, not in terms of actual content but in terms of how I felt watching it. I just wanted more and more.

You are doing a phenominal job with pacing and editting and I can't wait to see how this story turns out. Keep up the great work and until the nex ttime..

The next film that caught my eye recently was a film by another film-maker called KarlBrown. Now I have always been a fan of film-noir and TMO has had it's fair share of amazing productions (take Sherwinliu and Katelee's Chat Noir Studios for example)

But what I never imagined was ever being captivated by a subtitled film-noir. KarlBrown's  Blue Chicago Moon is simply a wonderful production. I was shocked to find such a well made and directed piece from a relatively new studio, again who put an immense amount of effort into his creation. The cinematography of this was breathtaking and I felt his attention to detail was a very strong attribute of his film-making.

Again, I am impressed with what I've seen so far and I am certain there are better things to come from him, so go and check out his film if you haven't already!!!

You can find my review below along with my new award for rising stars!!

I have to say that was a "VERY WELL MADE NOIR" you had all the great distinctive attributes. From you excellent use of dialogue visualised through some of the perfect subtitles I have ever seen!! Great transisional effects for the detective and the femme fatale, I loved how the different fonts mixed well and allowed for easy reading and interpretation. The narrative subtitles were also written and displayed differently which made for some excellent viewing!

I love your use of establishing shots with very impressive use of the free-cam (something I always look out for). An example of this is the diner scene or even the bar and office scenes. It sets the mood and the atmosphere.

Your talent and film-making are very impressive and you have shown glimpses of 'attention to detail', this is something that ALWAYS catches my eyes and ears as it is something I see so rarely amongst film-makers on TMO. Only a good hand-full dedicate time for this. An example of your attention to detail is using appropriate ambience crowd effects within the bar. Once again this sets the mood and the viewer is further drawn into the story.

The plot held up very well and had some interesting turns along the way with the finale being breathtaking. I loved your editting use and the final shot pretty much rounded off your skill. A nice quick and clean cut to a fabulous story. Overall I loved your quick cuts to 'black' and I think it worked perfectly for this film.

Music was a very intersting thing within this story. First of all you picked and used the most appropriate song in my opinion from the movies music default archive. I think you did a terrific job using this piece throughout the film and due to it's sombre mood and nature, this worked perfectly!

Blue Chicago Moon is a very gripping noir thriller, in fact it is one of the best subtitled noir I have seen on TMO. Filled with heart, soul and cinematography. I look forward to seeing more films from you and you taking part in TMO more often. You are onto even better things, but until the next time...

Nuke Well over the Blue Chicago Moon!!!

A new film to catch my eye is from a studio who isn't particularly new but in terms of content, it's the first time I have really noticed him. Simpsdog is a director with a lot of promise due to his ability for story telling and dialogue narration!
His brand-new film Bad Men literally blew me away with some awesome story telling and great voice overs. I was hooked from the get go and time flew by as I thoroughly enjoyed this action thriller.
I am extremely proud of his efforts and hope more people take time to check out what I regard as his best work to date. What's even better is I am certain there is much more to come from this highly talented film-maker.
So what are you waiting for? check it below along with my review.

- Movie maker NUKESTER

Bad Men is a daring and refreshing Action Thriller filled with twists and turns!

From the get go I was pulled into this story with some magnificent narrative storytelling. There was some great dialogue used to explain the characters and their situations.

Character interactions were brilliant with some spot on animations and use of scenes to convey meaning and emotion. I thought you did a fabulous job with the free-cam acquiring some splendid pans and shots. This coupled with some great editting made for some really entertaining viewing.

I loved the VO's by all characters! Jen did a fab job. I hope to see them all continuing to provide us with some great acting in the community (fingers crossed).

Overall 'Bad Men' had good pace and a cunning story that showcases all your skills and ability. I honestly cannot wait to see your next film and will urge a lot of people to watch this.

Until then.. keep on filming and..

Nuke Well for Bad Men!!!!
